1) Safety & Notes
- Motorcycle must be secure and stable: ideally on a mounting stand / center stand / lift.
- Spring is under tension → Risk of injury. Use suitable tools (spring puller) and wear safety gloves / safety goggles.
- Always tighten screws according to manufacturer's specifications (workshop manual). (Torque values may vary depending on the model.)
2) Required Tools & Materials
- Mounting stand/lift
- Allen/Torx/Socket set (model dependent)
- Torque wrench (recommended)
- Spring puller or suitable hook
- Threadlocker (e.g. medium strength)
- Heat gun (for heavily secured screws / Loctite)
- Cleaner (e.g. brake cleaner) + cloth
- Multi-purpose grease / bearing grease
3) Removal of the original side stand
- Securely prop up the motorcycle and secure it against tipping over.
- Loosen the side stand screw (pivot point/pivot bolt).
- Unthread the side stand from its bracket and remove it.

4) Spring Mount / Preparation (model-dependent)
A) KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas models from model year 2024 (additional sheet metal mounting required)
-
Loosen the screw of the spring mount.
ATTENTION: This screw is often secured with threadlocker (e.g. Loctite). In many cases, it is necessary to heat the screw connection to prevent the screw from breaking off. - Remove the air filter cover (if necessary, to gain access).
- Loosen the screw on the subframe (create access/gap).
- Thread the sheet metal piece for spring attachment between the frame and the fairing plastic and position it correctly.
- Reinstall the screw(s) with threadlocker and tighten them correctly.

B) All other models (no additional sheet metal mounting)
- The existing spring mount can be used – steps 4-8 are omitted.
5) Mounting the new side stand
- Clean the sleeve (if reused) or check the new sleeve and then lightly grease it.
- Insert the cleaned and greased sleeve into the new side stand.
- Mount the spring bracket on the new side stand (if separate).
-
Thread the side stand spring and hook it into the bracket.
Tip: If necessary - use a spring puller and make sure the spring sits cleanly and is not jammed. - Insert the side stand screw (pivot point) with threadlocker (Loctite or similar) and tighten it correctly.

6) Function test after installation
- Fold the side stand in and out several times → smooth movement, no jamming.
- Check spring: Sidestand must reliably retract and hold in the end position.
- Remove motorcycle from the assembly stand, check standing position (tilt angle/stability).
- After a short test ride (or after the first 20–50 km): Visual inspection for loosened screws.
